Der Weg in Richtung Norden ist zum Glück weniger aufregend und erst mal Dank wunderschönem Wetter und netten Menschen abseits der Touristengebiete dafür verantwortlich, das ich mich so langsam anfange, wohlzufühlen.

The ride towards the North is thankfully fairly uneventful and thanks to the blue skies and lovely people away from the touristy spots I actually start to like the place

Der Ban Gioc Wasserfall liegt direkt an der chinesischen Grenze - unser erstes Ziel nach Cat Ba im äußersten Nordosten des Landes. Leider ist es hier nun kalt, nass und neblig und die im Normalfall sicherlich tollen Aussichten sind eher selten zu sehen. Dafür sind wir hier nun in einem wenig touristisch überlaufenen Gebiet, was sich daran bemerkbar macht, dass die Menschen hier wesentlich freundlicher sind uns uns herzlich aufnehmen

The Ban Gioc waterfal is part of the Vietnamese Chinese border and our first goal after Cat Ba. We are in the far north east of the country. Unfortunately is very cold, wet and foggy now so we don't get to see the best of the beautiful views here. On the other hand we are in an area with very few tourists which means that the locals are far mor welcoming and friendly here.

Nachdem  wir uns von Tessa und Alex fürs Erste verabschiedet haben ist unser Weg in den Dong Van Karst Geopark gesäumt von Problemen, Abenteuern, Kälte und unglaublichen Landschaften

After traveling on without Tessa and Alex our ride up the Dong Van Karst Geopark is marked by breakdowns, adventures, freezing cold and unbelievable landscapes

Wir sind in Ha Giang, auf dem Weg in Richtung Sapa mit Blick zurück auf die verhangenen Berge des Geoparks. Nicht viele Touristen verschlägt es hierher aber wir sind froh, dass Kevin es geschafft hat, uns zu überzeugen, es zu tun.

We are in Ha Giang now and on our way to Sapa with a view back on the misty mountains of the Geopark. Not many tourists find their way here but we are realy glad now that Kevin managed to convince us to do it

In Sapa feiern wir Johans Geburtstag und die Tatsache, dass wir bald wieder in wärmere Gefilde reisen werden.

Die Stadt ist von Touristen überlaufen und damit von Einheimischen, die ein Geschäft machen wollen - das wird manchmal extrem lästig, aber wenn man sich die Stadt und ihre Umgebung anschaut, ist es auch gerechtfertigt

In Sapa we celebrate Johan's birthday and the fact that we soon will be travelling to warmer climes again.

The town is full of tourists and a lot of locals who want to sell their goods - which can get rather tideous. But looking at the town and the surrounding area it's fame with tourists is quite understandable.

der Höhepunkt unseres Besuches in Sapa war ein Tag wandern in einem der Seitentäler mit Übernachtung bei einer ansässigen Familie. Auch dies war zwar eine Verkaufstour, aber die Eindrücke trotzdem die Mühe wert.

Highlight of our time in Sapa was a trecking tour with overnight homestay in one of the near by valeys. This was also a bit commercial but the viws and experiences definitly worth the effort
