Mit nur ein paar Stunden Visum für Indonesien im Pass kommen wir zur Grenze dieses Landes, es ist nicht wirklich ein großes Land, die Hälfte (ungefähr) dieser Insel und eine recht junge Nation dazu - wir haben eigentlich keine Vorstellung, was uns hier erwarten wird, aber esist auch eigentlich nur unsere Übergangsstation vor Australien

With only a few hours left on our Indonesian visa we arrive at this border - the country is not really a big one - just about half of the island (thereabouts) and a rather young Nation it is too. We don't have any idea what to expect and quite honestly we regard it as a necessary step on our way to Australia

Hier verbringen wir die nächsten 3 Wochen - aus den unterschiedlichsten Gründen schaffen wir es nicht, uns von diesem Land mehr anzuschauen - vielleicht hätten wir sonst etwas mehr gute Erinnerungen zurückbehalten - so aber ist die Erinnerung eher geprägt von Stress Hitze und meist Unverständnis

This is where we spent the next 3 weeks. It had lots of different reasons that we did not get to see more of the country and maybe it would have been good to get some more good impressions - unvortunately as is is we have mostly memories of a stressful time with lots of heat, dust and lots of misunderstanding

Das Beste am Dili Backpackers ist, das ich endlich mal wieder selbst Kochen kann. Es gibt fast jeden Tag was mit Kartoffeln oder auch mal echte Nudeln, denn die gibt es hier in den westlichen Supermärkten wegen der Hilfsorganisationen zu kaufen. Außerdem nutzen wir die Zeit für Computerarbeit und bringen unser Gepäck auf Hochglanz wegen der strengen Hygienekontrollen in Australien

The best thing about Dili Backpackers is the kitchen - finally I get to cook some meals again and we have potatoes most days and also real pasta which you can by here in the Supermarkets for the NGO's. We also use the time for computerrwork and to clean our stuff for the strict hygiene rules of Australia

Manchmal haben wir auch den langen Marsch ins Zentrum unternommen, aber so wirklich viel gabs echt nicht zu finden .... Dili könnte man schon als langweilig bezeichnen

A few times we did walk into the city center but there really was not that much to see ..... you could actually call the place boring

Zum Abschied zeigen sich Rita und Timor Leste von einer neuen, unerwarteten und großzügigen Seite - vielleicht mit etwas mehr Zeit und gutem Willen wäre die Beziehung doch noch eine gute geworden.

On the last day Rita and Timor Leste showed an unexpected new and generous side to us ... maybe ith a bit more time and a more positive way of looking at things it all might have been different
