Wir kommen am 18. Dezember im Morgengrauen in Devonport an. Zum Glück hatten wir eine ruhige Überfahrt - wenn auch in Kevin's Fall mit wenig Schlaf - und fahren auf direktem Weg durch den britschsten aller Australischen Staaten auf direktem Weg zu Paul und Kerry. Es gibt viel zu tun, aber wir haben auch dringend etwas Erholung nötig und brauchen Zeit, um mit den kleineren und größeren Pannen und den neuen Erfahrungen ins Reine zu kommen, bevor wir diese Insel erkunden können.

We arrive in Devonport on the 18th of December in the early hours of the morning. We were lucky and had a quiet crossing - even though Kev got very little sleep - and we take the most direkt route across the most British of all Australian states to get to our friends Paul and Kerry. There is a lot to sort but we are in dire need of some rest too and we need time to recover from all the minor and major desasters of recent times and to get our heads around all our new experiences before we can think about exploring the island

Wir  bekommen die Aufgabe, den Weihnachtsbaum zu schmücken.

Da Weihnachten hier in Australien hauptsächlich am ersten Weihnachtsfeiertag stattfindet haben Paul und Kerry ihren Freunde für diesen Tag zu einer Flower Power Party eingeladen - alle erscheinen im Hippie Outfit. Es wird eine entsprechend bunte Feier.

We get the duty to decorate the Christmas tree.

As Christmas here in Australia is mainly just celebrated on Christmas day Paul and Kerry have invited their frieds for a Flower Power Party on the 25th. They arrive in full Hippie outfits and the party is accordingly colourful.

Zum Beginn des Neuen Jahres fangen wir dann so langsam an, Karten zu studieren - wir wollen ja bald endlich auch die Insel erkunden. Vorher ist noch so einiges zu erledigen und ein paar Ausflüge sind auch noch geplant

at the beginning of the New Year we also start to study some maps and make plans for exploring the island. Befor however we have to sort a few more things, make some more visits and also a few mor local ride-outs with Paul, Kerry and friends

Hobart hat es uns besonders angetan. Die Stadt und ihre Umgebung sind einfach nur schön.

Ein Ort, an dem Geschichte fühlbar wird und eine Stadt, in der sogar wir leben könnten - und das kommt von zwei Vollblutlandeiern.

We really and especially like Hobart. The city and it's surroundings are simply beautiful and just breathe history and it is also a city in which even we could live - and that comes from two full blood country bumkins 

am 6. Januar - nachdem alles, was wir für's Erste regeln konnten erledigt ist und nach einem Zahnarztbesuch verlassen wir Paul und Kerry zum ersten Mal und für die nächsten 3 Wochen sind wir nun unterwegs, um den Rest von Tasmanien zu erkunden - doch das ist nicht das Ende aller Tage, wir kommen wieder keine Frage .......

on the 6. of January - after we have sorted everrything we could for now and after a visit at the dentist surgery we leave Paul and Kerry's place for the first time and intend to explore the rest of Tasmania for the next 3 weeks.
